the bump
The volume of natural hair makes it perfect for side-swept 'bumps' like this. I guess you could call it a natural girl's bang. And then with the scarf in the second photo... that is just DOPE.

fat twists pinned up
A nice short-term protective style.Lina, the architect of this style (and featured in the photo), wrote this how-to:"The pinned up twists were pretty easy.- I parted the hair down the middle and from ear to ear -- I did it with my fingers, but you can make an off center part and ear-to-ear part with your comb or rattail.- moisturize with creme of choice. rock solid regimen: rmichelle
RMichelle has been featured as a Monday style icon before, and I noticed on Fotki that she had recently intensified her regimen. Since July 1, 2008 she's been on a 'no sulfate, no silicone, no mineral oil, no petroleum or drying alcohol' regimen, and I can definitely see the difference in the shine, thickness and length of her hair!I asked her if she'd discuss her regimen, and she

Jaybaby's box braid style as featured on Nov. 14, 2008So, one day, I am hanging out with a friend of mine, and her college friend.“Did you know that L blogs about natural hair?,” my friend says.“Really?” her college friend replies. “I’m natural.”“Yeh,” I say, looking sideways at college friend’s hair. “I do. It’s interesting.”College friend's hair is straight, maybe 3 or 4 inches long, with

high ponytail with natural hair extensions
the ponytail is a hair piece. so that's it. there are no more excuses ladies. you DO NOT have to go out and get shiny, floppy, bird's nest weave every time you want extensions.definitely more seamless, and far more believable than traditional weave.

African funny Hairstyles
what techniques do you use for combing and washing your hair?Honestly, I have no technique. It’s not that serious to me. I just wash it when I think it’s dirty, I don’t use a comb in the shower. I detangle with Conair’s Detangle & Style Cushion Brush. Afterward, I put my hair in some big twists to either air dry, begin twists or put in a puff.are you more a style person or a free-standing hair

Rock Solid: LadyLSA
LADYLSA: I started transitioning in September/October 2004 and did the Big Chop in October 2005 so 2009 will make 4 glorious natural years for me. I decided to return natural after reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I vividly remember how he described his first conk and his realization of what the conk did to him and what he was trying to do to himself as an African American.L

a REAL "it's just hair" chick
so, we recently discussed the "it's just hair" attitude versus the "it's not just hair" attitude.a lot of people talk a big "it's just hair" game... but honestly, from here on out, i am using bublnbrnsuga as my personal standard for the "it's just hair" attitude.so i recently profiled her, because she was able to grow her natural hair out in excess of 24 inches...then relax it (just cuz she

how to: curly hair wash and go

This is her flat-ironed look:Tiffany saysThis summer I decided to give my hair a rest from my weekly routine of flat ironing. Instead, I have opted for the wash-and-go-look. For me, that means a head full of curls.Because my curls demand moisture, I use all

1. MSM Sulfur... It's awesome! It's a supplement that aids with hair growth. From my understanding, it also helps with general body health. But J can expound on that... she's the expert. In any case, here's a pic...2. I'm what's hot in the nail shop... I am the best thing to happen to Pro Nails. Rock Solid Regimen: Gem
"One day, with my little mini-fro, I was riding the lightrail and this older black woman sits in front of me (she looked late 50's-ish). She had the longest, thickest, black hair with threads of silver flowing throughout, going down her back in one single braid. I was breathless... This woman was so serene, solid, and just had this aura about her. From that day, I knew I would be that woman
