Jenteel part deux: "The Roll Up"
This style was done by hair artist Keva Hall for her show entitled "My Good Hair" @ Rush Arts Gallery in New York. It is part of "Garveyism" -- styles based on Marcus Garvey's beauty pageants promoting natural beauty. This style was inspired by powdered wigs of the 18th century.
this is natural hair
like any red-blooded nappy girl, i tend to dismiss wavy/spirally/curly hair as not "really" natural.i figure women with hair like this are in that third dimension between nappy and straight — where hair is textured, but grows fast and is easy to manage.
